Subscriptions

How do I update my subscription?
What are the advantages of your subscriptions?
You save 10% on every shipment, and your essentials arrive automatically—no need to reorder! This not only saves you money and time but also reduces shipping-related carbon emissions and ensures you never run out of the basics.
What reorder frequency should I set for my MABLE subscription?
Dentists recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months, so we suggest setting your subscription to deliver brushes every 3, 6, or 12 months. Other products, like dental floss, typically last around 2–3 months, depending on usage. We recommend a 3-month frequency, but you can always adjust it to suit your needs.
I have a MABLE subscription. When does my credit card get charged?
Your credit card is charged on the day of your subscription renewal. You'll receive an email four days before your products ship, giving you time to make any necessary adjustments—such as updating your address, credit card, or subscription date.
Can I cancel my monthly subscription?
Absolutely! You can cancel anytime—no need to contact us first. Simply log into your account and click the “Cancel” button.
Brand Ethics and Certifications
Is MABLE packaging eco-friendly?
You bet it is! We care deeply about the environment, so our eco-friendly products come in equally eco-friendly packaging. Our unbleached cardboard boxes are printed using UV printing and soy-based inks, reducing VOC emissions for both workers and the planet. The packaging is fully recyclable, and we ship everything 100% plastic-free.
How Does the "Buy Give Teach" Give-Back Program Work?
MABLE’s Buy Give Teach program directs a portion of profits from every toothbrush purchase to donate toothbrushes to children and youth, while also supporting sustainability education programs. Originally, MABLE visited schools to teach kids about sustainable choices and personal health. Now, the program partners with educators and organizations globally to spread the message of sustainability and eco-conscious living, extending the impact beyond individual households.
Are MABLE® products vegan?
Most of our products are vegan, with the exception of our silk dental floss and silk dental floss refills. Our bamboo toothbrushes, bamboo travel case, and bamboo cotton swabs are all vegan.
Are MABLE products tested on animals?
No, we never test our products on animals. MABLE is committed to cruelty-free practices, ensuring all our products are ethically made without any animal testing.
Are any ingredients in MABLE products tested on animals by vendors or third-party suppliers?
No, to the best of our knowledge, our suppliers do not test their products or ingredients on animals. We are committed to working with ethical partners who share our cruelty-free values.
Are MABLE products ethically made?
Yes! We partner with manufacturers who are verified by third-party auditors and certified through programs like the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) to ensure fair wages, ethical treatment, and safe working conditions.
Why are MABLE products sustainable?
We design our products to be refillable, reusable, and compostable whenever possible. By choosing biodegradable materials like bamboo and silk, our products can return to the earth at the end of their life. We source our bamboo from FSC-certified suppliers to ensure responsible harvesting. Plus, we package and ship all our products plastic-free.
Why are your toothbrushes made in China?
China is home to abundant, high-quality sources of bamboo and silk—the key materials in our best-selling products, bamboo toothbrushes and silk dental floss. The region also has a long tradition of craftsmanship, ensuring our products are made with expertise and care. Our manufacturing partners adhere to strict FDA regulations, meet ISO 9001 quality standards, and are ethically certified, ensuring both superior products and responsible production.
Bamboo Toothbrushes
Can I compost or recycle my toothbrush?
Absolutely! The bamboo handle (with bristles removed) is biodegradable and can be composted. Our handle is USDA-certified 100% biobased. However, the bristles—made from nylon or plant-derived nylon—are not compostable. You can easily remove them with pliers before composting the handle, see a video here. While nylon can be recycled at specialty facilities, we recommend placing the bristles in the trash to prevent tiny filaments from entering the environment. The cardboard packaging is fully recyclable.
Why bamboo?
For a material to be sustainable, it must be abundant and easily replenished. Bamboo, a fast-growing grass, can grow up to 10 centimeters per day and fully regenerate within two weeks—making it an ideal choice for eco-friendly products. Naturally antimicrobial, bamboo is perfect for personal hygiene items like toothbrushes. It’s also more water-resistant than wood, and MABLE’s self-standing handle design helps keep it even more protected from water damage
How long does the bamboo toothbrush handle take to break down?
It depends on composting conditions, but we estimate it will break down in approximately 4–6 months.
Are MABLE bristles compostable?
Not yet. We currently use two types of bristles in our toothbrushes. Our Original self-standing manual toothbrush features BPA-free nylon bristles, while our MABLE Basics toothbrushes and all electric replacement heads use a plant-based nylon bristle derived from castor bean oil. We are actively working to transition all our bristles to this more sustainable plant-based option.
Castor bean oil-based bristles are a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional nylon because they rely on plant-based resources instead of fossil fuels, resulting in a lower carbon footprint. However, all bristles should be removed before composting the biodegradable bamboo toothbrush handle.
We’re continuously researching a 100% compostable bristle option but have yet to find one that meets our standards for durability and sustainability.
Which toothbrushes have the new castor bean oil-derived, plant-based bristles?
All bamboo electric toothbrush heads, the MABLE Basics toothbrush, and soon, our Original Self-Standing brushes as we transition them to this eco-friendly option.
Is it possible for toothbrush bristles to be 100% compostable?
Yes, but the only natural and fully compostable option currently available is made from boar hair (pig hair). We have chosen not to use this in our toothbrushes due to ethical and hygiene concerns.
Be wary of brands advertising plant-based, 100% biodegradable bristles—these claims are often misleading and rarely backed by compostability certifications. We have tested various PLA and bio-plastic bristles in search of a truly plant-based option, but unfortunately, they didn’t perform well. Most lasted only about a week before becoming ineffective and too harsh on the gum line.
We remain hopeful that advancements in material technology will eventually lead to a truly 100% compostable bristle option.
What electric toothbrush models do you offer?
We have two models available, and their toothbrush heads are not interchangeable—you’ll need to select the correct brush head for your toothbrush.
- Compatible with Philips Sonicare – See compatible models here.
- Compatible with Philips One – See models here.
We’re always looking to expand our offerings, so if your model isn’t listed, please reach out!
Do you offer Extra Soft toothbrushes?
No, we have discontinued our extra-soft toothbrushes due to low demand.
Instead, we recommend our Soft toothbrush. Our softest bristles are found in our Charcoal-Infused Bristle 2-Pack.
Is your bamboo organic?
Yes, all bamboo is naturally grown without pesticides or chemicals due to its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. While our bamboo is organically grown, it is not officially certified due to the high cost of certification—something we’re considering for the future.
Our bamboo is sustainably sourced from the Ningbo region of China, and our production facility is FSC-certified, ensuring responsible harvesting practices.
Silk Dental Floss
Why is traditional dental floss bad?
Traditional dental floss is made from synthetic plastic products derived from petroleum-based sources, contributing to climate change and often containing harmful plastics and chemicals. It can include additives like Teflon, which is carcinogenic to humans, as well as synthetic fragrances and flavorings. In addition to being harmful to your health and shedding microplastics every time you floss, plastic and nylon-based flosses are neither recyclable nor compostable, remaining in the environment for hundreds of years.
What makes MABLE® dental floss zero-waste?
Our dental floss comes in a refillable, reusable stainless steel dispenser, allowing you to refill and reuse it instead of discarding the container. The floss itself is made from 100% natural, compostable ingredients, so it can be returned to the earth after use. Plus, the packaging is 100% compostable and recyclable in a paper bin.
Where does silk come from?
Silk comes from the silk moth and is a 100% natural and compostable fibre. Silk moths eat mulberry leaves and then use that energy to spin a cocoon. This cocoon is made of silk.
What is Ahimsa silk?
Ahimsa silk is also known as peace silk. It is a cruelty-free, non-violent, ethical method of obtaining the silk without harming or killing the silk worm. In this method, the silk cocoons are only harvested and processed after the silk moth has hatched the cocoon. Traditional silk harvesting methods often kill the unhatched silk moth.
Is the MABLE® Silk Floss organic?
The silk in our MABLE® floss is not produced or processed with pesticides or chemicals. While it is not certified organic, all ingredients are natural and compostable.
What is MABLE® dental floss coated with?
Our floss is coated with plant-based candelilla wax for smooth gliding and infused with natural peppermint essential oil for added freshness. Unlike traditional plastic floss, which contains PFAS and other harmful synthetics, our floss is made with naturally derived ingredients.
Is MABLE® dental floss vegan?
No, our dental floss is made from silk thread, which comes from silkworms. However, our silk is sourced using non-violent harvesting practices, sometimes called “peace silk” or “Ahimsa silk.” The wax coating is made from plant-based candelilla wax with a hint of peppermint essential oil and contains no animal products.
Cotton Swabs
Why are traditional plastic cotton swabs bad?
Traditional cotton swabs have plastic sticks that are used for seconds but last forever. They’re made from fossil fuels, contributing to climate change and containing harmful chemicals for both you and the planet. Plus, many are flushed down toilets, polluting oceans and harming wildlife along the way.
Are the MABLE® Cotton Swabs compostable?
Yes! They’re made from 100% natural, compostable materials and can be composted at home or in a municipal facility after use.
Are the MABLE® Cotton Swabs organic?
Our cotton swabs currently use conventional cotton, while the bamboo is organically grown. Thanks to its natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties, our bamboo is cultivated without pesticides or chemicals, though it is not certified organic.
